10-Year Accreditation Site Visit and Self-Study Updates for Programs
Previously, all programs with a status of Continued Accreditation, Continued Accreditation with Warning, and Continued Accreditation without Outcomes were assigned both a Self-Study and a 10-Year Accreditation Site Visit date. The review of the program Self-Study was then incorporated into the 10-Year Accreditation Site Visit process. Between March 2020-October 2023, program Self-Studies and 10-Year Accreditation Site Visits were postponed and delinked.
The ACGME Manual of Policies and Procedures (available on the ACGME website) reflects these changes. The Site Visit and Self-Study sections of the ACGME website will be updated in the coming weeks to reflect these changes.
The ACGME will notify the community once these changes are complete within ADS and on the website.
Note: The Sponsoring Institution Self-Study and 10-year Accreditation Site Visits will continue according to the plan outlined on the Institutional Self-Study page of the ACGME website.

Major Revision of Program Requirements for Anesthesiology Subspecialties Coming Soon
The Review Committee is preparing to begin a major revision of the Program Requirements for the following subspecialties:- Adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology
- Anesthesiology critical care medicine
- Obstetric anesthesiology*
- Pediatric anesthesiology
The Review Committee invites comments related to specific requirements or topics that should be addressed as the revisions are developed. In particular, the Review Committee invites comments related to what the respective subspecialties will look like in the future, and the competencies, resources, and personnel necessary to create physicians who will practice in the subspecialty.
Current requirements for the these subspecialties can be accessed from the Program Requirements and FAQs and Applications tab of the Anesthesiology section of the ACGME website.

Case Log Update for Ophthalmology Residents
The glaucoma minimums will be in effect for the 2024 graduates but will not be enforced until 2025 to give programs time to acclimate to the change. Note: It will take at least a week for the Ophthalmology Minimum Report in ADS to be fully updated.
Residents can now “batch enter” most cataract, YAG capsulotomy, laser trabeculoplasty, panretinal laser photocoagulation, and intravitreal injection CPT codes. Additionally, Case ID entry is now optional.
Review the document, "Ophthalmology Case Log Information," which is on the Documents and Resources tab of the Ophthalmology section of the ACGME website. The document includes helpful information about the new glaucoma minimums and batch logging CPT codes.

Association of Interview and Holistic Review Metrics With Resident Performance-Related Difficulties in an Internal Medicine Residency Program

This research study of all residents matching and matriculating into a large academic internal medicine program between 2018 and 2020, examines the relationship between certain selection factors and performance-related difficulties during residency. These findings could help programs develop more thoughtful selection processes, as well as opportunities for enhanced support when at-risk candidates are identified.
Building a Strong Clinician-Investigator Community of Practice

This article provides guidance for residents and fellows pursuing careers as clinician-investigators. The ACGME Seeks Osteopathic Recognition Committee Member
The Osteopathic Recognition Committee is seeking one new physician member. Candidates must be a program director or Director of Osteopathic Education in a program with Osteopathic Recognition. Nominations are due December 1, 2023.
The Recognition Committee will forward its selection to the ACGME Board of Directors for approval. The new member’s term will begin July 1, 2024 and end June 30, 2030.
